I am trying to debug and run the app on apple watch simulator. I have tried by using different target for notification, Glance and Watch app but apple simulator don't shows any thing. It stuck in waiting for attach process of extension. Apple Watch devices no longer show as external displays in Xcode 7, as far as I can tell (and also based on some forum posts I saw). Attempted to install a combo simulator in the Devices panel, meaning an iPhone running iOS 8.4, paired to an Apple Watch.

As the Apple Watch shipping date gets closer (10 days and counting), people who are thinking about buying one are starting to get antsy about the lingering questions regarding the device.
The big question for a lot of would-be buyers is about the longevity of the Apple Watch. After all, this is a first-generation Apple product. The past dictates that Apple frequently makes big changes (and substantial improvements) to subsequent versions of its products, often just a year after release.

Because the Apple Watch is also an entirely new product category for Apple, many people are even more disinclined to want to jump in. After all, as we learned with the iPad, first-gen products are often made obsolete more quickly.
But the Apple Watch isn't just a tech gadget. It's also a piece of jewelry. The average person might replace their phone ever two to three years, but they replace their watch must less frequently. Especially watches that cost at least $350.
And look, we know the Apple Watch isn't going to be a family heirloom, but will it still be usable in three years? Five?
How long can we expect an Apple Watch's useful lifetime to last?
With Apple, perhaps more than other companies, past patterns are often good predictors of the future. As a result, it might be useful to revisit the lifecycle of other first-generation products.
Consider the original iPad. Millions bought the iPad in 2010 but a newer, better iPad 2 was released a year later. That iPad was thinner, had a snappier processor and, perhaps most importantly, added cameras in the front and back.
Although iOS generally does a great job of supporting older devices (iOS 8 still works on an iPad 2), the memory limitations of the original iPad meant it stopped getting OS updates after iOS 5. By September 2012, just over two years after its release, it effectively reached end-of-life.

As a result, there are plenty of original iPad tablets out in the wild running old versions of software that will never be updated. In some cases, the apps and services cease to work altogether.
Yes, technology moves fast and upgrade cycles are a reality. Stuff gets replaced and newer products take the shiny off the olds ones.
The product cycle for most Apple products is about a year (sometimes processor refreshes happen more frequently on the MacBook and iMac lines), save the time Apple waited just 7 months to release an upgraded iPad. (Yes, I'm still mad about that.)
Still, even after the release of new products, Apple typically supports products for at least three years after release. The original iPad may have only had support until 2012, but the iPad 2, released in 2011, is still getting iOS updates.
On the Mac side, Apple typically supports machines for at least five years with software updates. Sometimes longer. OS X Yosemite, the latest release of OS X, supports machines all the way back to the 2007 iMac.
With that in mind, it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume that we can get at least three years of official support out of the Apple Watch.
Also adding to the idea that we can expect the original Apple Watch to be supported for at least three years is the AppleCare+ plans Apple Watch.
Apple traditionally sells two years of AppleCare+ for the iPhone and iPad. For the Mac, AppleCare plans last three years.
For the Apple Watch, Apple is doing something interesting: It is offering a two year AppleCare+ plan for the Apple Watch or Apple Watch Sport. But since the Apple Watch Edition comes with two years of protection at time of purchase, Apple is offering an additional year of AppleCare+ (along with two accidental damage incidents) for $1,500.
In other words, buyers of the most premium of Apple Watch products can get up to three years of warranty and accidental damage protection.
To us, that signifies Apple plans to support the watch for at least three years. After all, why bother selling a warranty on a product you aren't going to support with software updates?
The interesting thing about the Apple Watch is that most of the processing power for apps itself really isn't handled by the Apple Watch, but by the iPhone.
The Apple Watch, at its core, has a processor, a set of sensors as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Apple Watch apps aren't running native code on the watch itself; they're executing Swift calls and notifications on the watch.
Apple Watch apps aren't so much apps, but little snippets of code that exist within an iOS app that can then be accessed on the watch. For now, you can't install an Apple Watch app without having an iOS app to go along with it.
As a result, for now anyway, the watch could conceivably be used for quite some time, even with lower-end hardware, and still work with the apps that are on the phone itself.
The one caveat here is that if Apple makes changes to the way WatchKit works in iOS and gives future Apple Watch devices the ability to run native code, even without an iPhone app counterpart, that might not work with older versions of an Apple Watch.
Likewise, it's possible that a future version of iOS — say, iOS 10 or iOS 11 — wouldn't be compatible with older Apple Watch devices.
On the one hand, the low-tech nature of the Apple Watch means that it could conceivably still work with older phones and with more basic apps for years to come. On the other hand, I don't think it is reasonable to expect Apple to preserve backward-compatibility for OG Apple Watch devices past a certain threshold.
One of the most confounding aspects of the Apple Watch for a lot of tech reviewers (and it must be said, male tech reviewers) has been the reality that the Apple Watch isn't just a gadget. It's also a fashion accessory.
And fashion comes with its own unique set of a product lifecycles. Some fashion pieces are timeless (no pun intended). A Chanel suit. The little black dress. Tom Ford.
But most fashion items — especially accessories — are cyclical and seasonal. I buy a new handbag (which, incidentally, costs as much as an Apple Watch) every few years.
So assuming that the Apple Watch will last five years, would the average person necessarily even want to use it that long? Or at that point, does the fashion angle become just as important as a tech upgrade?
At the end of the day, if you're questioning the lifespan of an Apple Watch, my biggest piece of advice is to say that because this is a new category, because it's first-generation and because it is inherently about fashion, those buying the Apple Watch should do so with the implicit understanding that this is not an item that will last as long as an iPad or a Mac or a Rolex.
This is something that will inevitably need to be upgraded either because of looks or functionality, or both. You might be able to get three years out of the Apple Watch, but I would amortize it at about two and a half years, at least for this first product.
The truth is, Apple still doesn't know what the 'typical' iPad lifecycle is, and that product is five years old. So it may be years before we really know how long the Apple Watch will last before it needs an upgrade.
But for now, if you're buying the first-generation Apple Watch, remember: Part of the trade-off of getting something first means that it will become outdated even more quickly.
